Well this is a totally non marketing related post. So by all means click away now if you wish ![]()
(Or better still pop down to my last post and check some of the items mentioned in that
)
Quite simply it came about from an email I received that I thought was both funny – AND – educational…
Funny in that I laughed at the ridiculous extremes I BELIEVE some people go to in their beliefs,
And Educational in the hope that by seeing how extreme one of the worlds largest religions ‘COULD’ be if the majority of people took everything so seriously to heart….
In the hope that we might all prefer to focus on the SIMILARITIES we human beings have in our beliefs!
I genuinely believe that those tarnished with the views of the extremists in every religion, probably would prefer for us all to focus on the good that each religion believes in preaching and following….
And if we all did – there would be a lot less crap going on around the world!
OK – I’m no theologian or political peacebroker… but it’s my blog so I can post what I want ![]()
You don’t have to agree with anything I think or write. And yet, I’d be happy to communicate with you and agree to disagree, whilst continuing to live in peace with you being entitled to have your opinion and me mine.
Anyways – I sent this to my lists on Friday and asked for feedback as to whether it was too controversial to post?
The results have been that a staggering 90% of the replies I received said to go ahead and post it!
Many laughed, some thought it was indeed educational, others just said they appreciated the fact that by going off on such a tangent it showed I was a human first and not just another online marketer.
Some warned that I would have a lot of unsubscribes from my list from those who hold extremist or purist views! (in fact I didn’t have anymore unsubscribes than normal – which did actually surprise me!)
I also had initially pasted the whole email I received including a credit to someone who supposedly wrote the body of it. Which was highlighted to me by Pippa, and also Jane of (http://gotamoment.info – some funny emails on her blog ) that the credit was actually incorrect, hence I’ve left that off.
So below you’ll find the post, make of it what you will, and do feel free to comment. I will approve all comments provided that they do not incite hatred to anyone’s beliefs. (again – because it’s my blog – hence my opinion that “everyone should be entitled to their beliefs provided that they hurt no one in any way” are what count on here
– plus My hosts rules also ban certain types of comment and posts…lol)
Let me know your thoughts ![]()
(and don’t forget to get back to marketing by reading the previous post here)

* A Funny Religious Item I Shouldn’t Post!
I know, I know – we must never talk religion!
But hey – I was sent this and I loved the sentiment!
Some people really do seem to take things seriously,
But at least we know Christians are generally good people and most (I believe) would smile at some of these Bible quotes
(And personally, I feel most would also realize that times have changed from when the Bible was written….Or do You still believe in slavery??)
See below if you want to OWN a Canadian
I have checked ALL the Biblical quotes to ensure I can’t be sued!

In her US radio show, Dr Laura Schlesinger said that, for an observant Orthodox Jew, homosexuality is an abomination according to
Leviticus 18:22, and cannot be condoned under any circumstance.
The following response is an open letter to Dr. Laura, penned by a US resident, which was posted on the Internet. It’s funny, as well as informative:
====
Dear Dr. Laura:
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God’s Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination …
End of debate.
I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God’s Laws and how to follow them.
1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians.
Can you clarify? Why can’t I own Canadians?
2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair
price for her?
3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of Menstrual uncleanliness – Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord – Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally
obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it?
6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination, Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don’t agree. Can you settle this? Are there ‘degrees’ of abomination?
7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here?
8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?
9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot.
Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn’t we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
I know you have studied these things extensively and thus enjoy considerable expertise in such matters, so I’m confident you can help.
Thank you again for reminding us that God’s word is eternal and unchanging.
Your adoring fan,

Of course you should have posted it! It is hilarious (and I am a religious person, but I do not take it to extremes). I love clever humour and there are so many ways to interpret the bible that it is bound to come into the realms of humurous criticism!
Love it, well done!
Enjoy the journey.

Thanks Mandy
Yep – interpretation seems to be what leads to some of the badness that comes from religious debate.
I once had a Pastor tell me that
“If God knew I would read it that way he would have written it different!”
But that’s a whole different debate
—
That said – I’ve never found that many people who know what is contained in Leviticus, and who can blame them!!!!
In my personal opinion – it has to be the most boring book of the Bible!
Randy
Ok Randy,
God bless him!
At first I thought No, you shouldn’t put this on your site…then after reading it again…I guess it’s OK, I mean it was meant to be humorous and it is pretty funny!
I actually do own a Mexican, I call him Honey and we’ve been married for years! He doesn’t know I own him…he thinks he owns ME!! Haha!
Since it’s about religion…do you think your site will get banned in some countries? Facebook did!!
Take care and God bless!! (The same God in Leviticus!) YAY!
Lisa~
Hi Lisa,
I hadn’t even thought about getting banned by a country!!!!
I’d be having words though – what about free speech, and the fact that all that has been done is direct quotations from the Bible!
Randy
Ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaa!
Very funny, I probably shouldn’t laugh, but I did!
I am not a very religious person to be honest, was never brought up that way.
That’s why I personally did not find it offending, and I am glad you posted it, Sally
Hi Sally,
Cheers for popping by and commenting
Loved the video you just posted – cool sahe on your blog of where you get good traffic from!
Randy
Hi Randy,
Did I send you that Leviticus issue?
I certainly mailed it to loads of my friends as soon as I got it from a friend in Scotland….. (it’s such a great example of how double quoting often highlights total chaos in human recordings of THE LAWS OF GOD – whichever God it may be!)
My friend quoted this starter to it:
“In her US radio show, Dr Laura Schlesinger said that, for an
observant Orthodox Jew, homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22, and cannot be condoned under any circumstance. The following response is an open letter to Dr. Laura, penned by a US resident, which was posted on the Internet. It’s funny, as well as informative:”
I thought it was a hoot and so many friends responded in the same vein that I’m glad you posted it, wherever you got it!
John
Yes John,
It was from you
I tried to protect you from any flack by not mentioning you by name….lol
Randy
That’s just the way you’re made Randy – thanks, I won’t let on then!!
The particular friend I mentioned would be amazed if she knew just how far her simple comment had now travelled – but she’d take it in her stride!
I won’t tell her though, well, not for a month or two at least!
Time for a bit of Golf Ball treatment now I think (I’ll put the reference for that comment onto my Blog a bit later) -
It’s our 43rd Anniversary today so I’ve made Jean dinner (I can’t disclose her simple choice!) and now I’m taking her a big bowl of strawberries and Ice Cream…….. have fun, keep enjoying life!
John
Randy,I’ve been a Catholic all my life, even a alter server as a younger lad, and I think that was a terrific bit of read.
The only problem I have with any religion as far as the word of
God goes is that man wrote what was supposedly said.
Book after book has been rewritten by man.
Even God knows that if you let a human write anything, they will put everything in their own perspective.
It might have the basics of what should be, but will also have mans/womans feelings, thoughts, beliefs added to it.
So just how many different types of religions are their and which one is right?
According to God of course.
P.S. If any one finds this offensive, ‘They’ need a new religion.
Thanks MrBill
Randy.
That’s hysterically funny, I loved it.
I’m not in the slightest bit religious but my friend is and she screamed with laughter too.
Nice one.
Gert
Hi Guys, and thanks for the comments…
@ MrBill : – “The only problem I have with any religion as far as the word of
God goes is that man wrote what was supposedly said.
Book after book has been rewritten by man.”
If only the die hards would look at things that way….. But they do insist it is word for word what Thier God said (all religions, but hey – they are fully entitled to believe what they will)
@ Gert: – Good to hear of another religious person with a sense of humour
Randy
Why anyone would find it offensive beats me. It was great and perhaps it more people took an in depth look at the basis of their religious belief the world would be a better place with less dogma and hate based on religious indoctrination.
Agreed Jon,
And thanks for stopping by
Randy
