Hi All,

Well if you caught my brief email, I said I’d try and give a litle more info about my Jury service when it was over…

It feels like I’ve been offline for a month or more…lol – so much seems to have happened while I was away!
After a beautiful weekend break, camping and my eldest daughters handfasting… I came back to one day at work – which was spent with John Thornhill at his offices.
Then on to my Jury Service which lasted for three full days.

Well it’s all over now so I can finally talk about it (to a degree – It’s like fight club… 1st rule etc.) ..lol
At first I thought it would be an interesting experience!
Well it was… well an experience at least!
I wouldn’t actually wish it on anyone.
Myself and my fellow jurors were tired out from listening to everything, and taking more notes than a dozen of my rambles… I don’t think I’ve written so much down with pen and
paper for years and years!

We had to decide whether a young persons death was an accident or if it was misadventure!
After hearing 5 different barristers all cross-examining witnesses and those more closely involved, it seemed as though everyone wanted to point the finger of blame at somebody other than their clients!
The most upsetting part being when eye witnesses described the actual death by drowning of the 17yr old while they watched helpless from a pier!

We also heard about the valiant attempts by the lifeguards and RNLI to save the youngster (While managing to save a girl who was with him). In fact the coroner (and ALL the jury totally agreed) commended two of the lifeguards Megan Ellis And Josh Jones for their ‘beyond the call of duty’ actions. Including giving mouth to nose whilst being caught in a riptide, exhausted and struggling to keep themselves afloat!
Also commended by the coroner (and again something ALL the Jury agreed with) were the actions of brothers Tom & Joe Ellis, two holiday makers who risked their own lives trying to get to the couple struggling in the water.
I wanted to add all 4 names here as a mark of respect for what they did and attempted to do!

The long and short of it all being, that without going into – or thankfully even having to decide upon anyones guilt – we arrived at a verdict of Misadventure. So now the legal people will have to battle it out to see who could have done more to prevent the needless death. Glad that’s not for us to decide. Our part is done!

That left me exhausted and with a few nights troubled sleep – so Rachel and I have had a nice chilled weekend, including going to the cinema to watch Thor (which she thoroughly enjoyed due to Thors physical appearance!! – and to think she tells me she loves my beer belly!!)

So here I am, a little more refreshed and back to it!
I’ve spent the morning catching up in the forums I check on, and naturally answering questions in the IMA forum for members of InternetMarketingApprentice to help them to make life eaier for when they start an online business etc.

As well as popping back to see more of the new IMTrustworthy site whose logo I have added to my blog… but hey – more on that below.

I still have some personal emails to check on. But I wanted to get this update done so you know I’m back and paying attention again…hehe ;)
There is also early bird news of next months Northallerton Meet Up – which has some special people already confirmed to attend… so do grab a ticket ASAP – as I may for the first time ever – have to stop taking bookings before the event is close – we are limited due to the locations room size etc.

So do have a read below – and be sure to add you comments :)

* Are You Trustworthy & Is Your Guru?

OK, I’ve already told you I’m shattered, so I hope you’ll forgive the copy and paste below…
Basically – I have just added a seal to my blog to show that I have agreed to certain practices, and hence am considered a trustworthy marketer :)

I have known about this site for a while and been waiting to tell people (well you know what I’m like if I think a product is crap I say so!)
Well now it’s FINALLY getting easier to sort the ‘wheat from the chaff’ when it comes to scammers and goodguys.

This has just launched and is already proving to be very popular!

Here’s the copy and paste for you to see what this is all about:

Sometimes it can be quite a task to differentiatethe honest and ethical Internet Marketers from the low down dirty snakes.
There are so many “wannabe gurus” out there that it makes me sick. Frankly, it saddens me that so many good people fall for their false promises of “autopilot instant riches.”
I’m sure you know the type of websites I’m referring to. They look great and they sound so convincing… But,

How do you really know who the good guys are? Can you really trust their testimonials and income snap shots?
If you have ever wondered these things then you must also consider that YOUR customers may have the same reservations about YOU.

The snakes have watered down our industry with all their bull crap hype filled launches and now consumer apprehensions are at an all time high.
How do you distinguish yourself as a good guy?
Well – I have found the answer and I want to share it with you:

Finally there is a way to demonstrate to your customers that you are in fact one of the good guys. Ethical marketers are now displaying the IMTrustWorthy seal on their websites.
IMTrustWorthy marketers have agreed to abide by the prudent practices of Internet marketing. They share their contact information with the world to increase their brand and elevate their reputation.

A good reputation can make your business skyrocket in many ways.
>Increase your conversions
>Elevate your brand
>Attract honest JV’s
And many more…

It’s a proven fact that security seals will help gain your customers trust and increase your sales. Many of those “trust” seals are just fake images images that only prove the marketer is good at Photoshop.
Other seals were like “Marketing Mafia” where any scammer that can pay top dollar gets to put it on his site.

But not anymore…
There’s no B.S. with the IMTrustworthy seal and license number because it’s FREE.

This is the real deal seal……it’s like nothing you’ve seen .

Join me in IMTrustWorthy and lets start cleaning up the Internet Marketing industry together.
Lets make the snakes stand out like a sore thumb.
Be sure to add me as a friend once you get in the members area. You’re going to love it!

Trust me.

Remember .. All the good guys will have this seal on their websites to prove it. What will people think if your websites don’t have it?
Your potential customers may be trying to find your profile in the members area right now. You could be losing sales! ….It’s free, get it now.

  1. RandySmith@InternetMarketingRambles, 09 May, 2011

A quick visit to twitterfeed and then I can go get my haircut…lol

I hope my Jury service summary doesn’t bore you too much :)

  2. Peggy Baron, 09 May, 2011

Not boring at all, Randy. How horrible to have a case like that! My husband had one on whether an employee stole from his company – much easier to stomach. Having an almost 17 year old myself, I’m sure I would have been a sobbing mess if I was sitting in on your trial.

  3. Bev, 09 May, 2011

    Hi Randy
Hope you enjoyed you break and aren’t too knackered after jury duty! Good to have you back in circulation – I was wondering where you had disappeared to!
Looking forward to the next meetup, seems like theres going to be a good turnout this time round :-)

  4. mandy@learntoblog, 09 May, 2011

Hi Randy, just booked my place for June. Really looking forward to it. Sent you a ticket re accommodation.

I have also signed up with IM Trustworthy as I do feel there needs to be something in place for potential customers to go to so they can see who is who. It really can be a minefield knwoing who to buy from when you may have never heard their name mentioned anywhere before.

    Enjoy the journey.

  5. Barry Wells, 09 May, 2011

Hi Randy, I remember seeing the case on the news when it first happened, having fun can sometimes be so dangerous. We just don’t think sometimes do we, until we’ve seen the results of such “fun times”.

Like you I take my hat off to those that jumped in to help. Where would we be without such people? Especially the members of the public that put their own lives in danger to try and help those in the water.

A very sad experience for all those involved Randy.

I’ve also joined the IM Trustworthy, after getting your email I went straight over and got the seal placed on my blog. It looks really good over there and so simple to check on peoples views of others. Shame i didn’t think of it ;)

I’m making my way to your IMA and have been getting some of the paper notes on my desk cleared up. 2 whole sheets last week and I’m thrilled at finally moving forward with my work load for this year, nearly wore the keyboard out in the process but hey ho

    Catch up again soon Randy

    Respect and Regards, Barry

  6. RandySmith@InternetMarketingRambles, 09 May, 2011

    Gimme a minute or ten guys….lol – I’ve actuially been working…lol

@ Peggy – Yep two witnesses held back tears, and one of the Jury nearly quit!

@ Bev – Both Terry and myself wondered where you were last Saturday… 1st you’ve missed for ages!. We thought you’d gone to Albania selling services!

    @ mandy – Yep answered… VictoriaHousena.co.uk – is a nice B&B :)

@ Barry – I was actually in Whitby the day it happened (well just after – but naturally wasn’t near it), and then had everyone locally quizzing me on day two of the trial – when we couldn’t discuss it – but it was on the local TV !!
We managed to get away before the cameras turned up at the end thankfully – that wouldn’t have been nice getting pestered by reporters – they did try and film the boys mother … poor woman!

Re the IMTrustWorthy – be sure to add me as a friend… And Comment Guys :)… I need to get into the habit of checking on there daily now…lol – another site to add to my daily list..hehe

  7. Eamon, 09 May, 2011

    Hi Randy,

Your Jury service summary didn’t bore me at all… I’m sure it was an eye opener for you, it seemed a tough one.

Yeah, there’s a lot of talk about Omar’s IM TrustWorthy, so when I get the chance I’ll be going to check it out.

How does it feel to be back working Randy, lol ;)

  8. Dawn Kay, 09 May, 2011

    Hi Randy

Just booked my place at your June meet up and I’m looking forward to it already. Looks like there’s a few of us going from the Internet Marketing Apprentice forum so will be good to meet everyone at last.

I’ve also signed up via you for im-trustworthy but haven’t had the chance to have a look round yet so will do it later when the kids are quiet.

Hope Rachel’s going to be coming too as she can fill me in on how she’s doing with the chickens.

    See you in June

  9. zora, 09 May, 2011

Great post, so vivid the way you describe the ordeal it’s like we were actually there.
Some good can be found even in this tragedy that has touched so many.
It’s good you showed there are people willing to help you went you’re in trouble
with great heroic feats to bring some good news from it all with some being rescued.
Im wondering about the new Omar Martins im-trustworthy it sound like its a good
program im going to check it out.

Hope you have good week back

  10. Lee Scott, 09 May, 2011

    Hey Randy,

My place is also booked for the June meet up and I can’t wait to meet everyone.

I’m also joining IM Trustworthy as I think the ethical way is the way to go.

Sadly in the past i’ve been taken in by all the hype and bull****, but not anymore.

That is why I am following the likes of you, John Thornhill, Dave Nicholson and Dan Sumner as all of you are ethical marketers that I can trust.

Thanks for dropping by my blog by the way and I look forward to meeting you at the June meet up.

    Lee Scott.

  11. RandySmith@InternetMarketingRambles, 10 May, 2011

LOL – I can’t keep up with the comments..haha – This having to work lark isn’t fun when I’d rather just be chatting with you guys ;)

@ Eamon – I’m still finding my way around IMTrustWorthy myself … here’s hoping people say nice things about me…lol

    @ Dawn – Yes Rachel will be there :) – She’s getting 2 – 3 eggs a day now… how cool is that!

@ Zora – Yep, I wanted to be sure and mention them, as it was a bit of something good in with all the bad. And those guys deserved the commendation they got!

@ Lee – I look forward to meeting you… good to see it’s not just the ‘Girly Gang’ attending, I was feeling outnumbered…lol

Fun day today – off to meet another marketer for Lunch, and Rachel gets to do some retail therapy while we’re out – so everybody is happy. I’ll be online later to get some work done too (Shame work has to keep interrupting our social lives…lol)

  12. Carol Smith, 10 May, 2011

Signed up for IMTrustworthy. My first recommendation was to your page and I was the first to leave comments about you. Does that qualify as “the early bird gets the worm?”

  13. Lisa, 10 May, 2011

    Hey Randy!!
Glad you are back at work hahaha!! Work??
Anyway, very sad case. I have never been to jury duty….they never pick me! I think it would be cool just to see how the system works!

So this IMTrustWorthy site…..I popped in there on JT’s recommendation and was wondering…..if there are scammers in there, do ya tell on em?? Or are they going to be scared to join??

I think Omar did a fantastic job on setting up the site and I am going to have to really check it out when I get a minute, so you will be seeing my smiling face in there real soon!!

Take care and thanks for all you do! :)

Glad you are working again…sometimes a gal needs a little help! :)

  14. RandySmith@InternetMarketingRambles, 10 May, 2011

Cheers Carol, I noticed the comment – much appreciated. I need to find time now to get back in and see if anyone else has found me…lol

@ Lisa, If you see someone who hasn’t given you good service or scammed you – I would leave a negative comment to let others know … that’s the idea behind being accountable so openly… Just be sure to be factual and not slanderous…lol

  15. Kathy Dobson, 11 May, 2011

    Hi Randy…
    Wow…let me take a deep breath ;)
Funny about the jury duty…my daughter just received notice last week and then another notice came here a few days later for a friend of hers that used to live here.
    Weird jury times I guess…lol

I was just checking out that website on trustworthiness online the other day. I must have followed a link if it is being promoted.
I am going to join the free part but wondering if you don’t upgrade how much it hurts your standing?

And well, your meeting…you know I’ll be there in spirit. I think its time we talked about opening your meetings to people like me by using a virtual room. (I know someone who is setting up a virtual rooms…even a mainstreet where people will wait on you personally ;)
It would never be the same as being there in person…but it is better than not being there at all.

The technology is here now…your meetings would definitely draw bigger crowds and allow others who do not live near you to feel part of your group ;) ;)

It’s different than a webinar though.

    Just my thoughts ;)

You could still have your meeting but open it to others with your virtual room.
It is where technology is taking us…

  16. RandySmith@InternetMarketingRambles, 12 May, 2011

LOL Kathy…. Technology – you know I’m useless at it :) – I wouldn’t know where to start!
The venue does have wireless – but I don’t even take my notebook to see if I can connect…lol

Beside – June sounds like it will be really busy – but usually there are only a handful of us, and I know one who would rather it was kept quiet (as he is very techy and always seems to discuss ideas that he then goes off and earns a few thousand from before the next meet up… he wouldn’t want other techys hearing the discussions…haha)

  17. Dee Ann Rice, 12 May, 2011

    Hi Randy,

Your jury duty experience was interesting. I am glad that you did not have decide on anyone’s guilt, it was traumatic enough without having to do that. It is really sad when what people see as having fun turns into a tragic event but sometimes that is all it is, a tragic event and no bodies fault.

I was called up for jury duty a few weeks ago but our case was settled out of court which I was happy for as it was to be an 8 day trial concerning a hospital and malpractice. It did not sound like fun time to me.

I am going to go and look at your IMTrustworthy now. That sounds really good.

    Dee Ann Rice

  18. RandySmith@InternetMarketingRambles, 12 May, 2011

    Hi Dee Ann,

Glad I didn’t have an 8 day trial… 3 days was enough to wear me out!
Rachel was shocked when I went for an afternoon sleep after it was all over….lol – She’s never seen me that tired in the daytime before!!

P.S. Has anyone noticed the new banners at the bottom of each post?… News on a free plugin (Another free tool) from http://www.InternetMarketingApprentice.com coming soon ;)

  19. John Reed, 12 May, 2011

    Hi Randy,

Glad to see you back in action, I can see that Jury Service was a very real experience for you.
Thank Goodness the Jury don’t have to wear wigs! We’d be faced with a replay at every meet-up –
I’m sure you enjoyed watching the “Silk” series on TV a month or so ago……..

I joined Omar’s scheme about 10 days ago but I’m not yet convinced that it would be worth the outlay to be a Premium IM Trustworthy Member. I’ll wait till it’s established and has gone through a few “trial under fire” experiences to see if integrity can be maintained. I like the idea, it’s the practicality that now needs proving.

Your next meeting sounds a biggie alright and I certainly want to be there – I’ve already shaved off the beard (Jean says I look 10 years younger) but it’s just time, finance, and the sheer stress of our ongoing precarious business existence that might prevent my attending – I’ll book in shortly. (Look out Dawn, we may get to meet at last – you’ll know me – I’m only 4 ft 3 in tall in one of my photos!).

Got a busy weekend ahead – taking care of some vital “Golf Balls” as all 3 children with Wives/Grandchildren etc are coming in for my 66th! I’m looking forward to it, even if I didn’t quite lose a whole stone for it as I’d intended………. I just love Spag Bol but it can ruin a good diet!!! Well, the size of my plate may play a part in that!! Haha

I’d just like to apologise here if anyone has been poking me on Facebook and not getting a reply, I’m never sure of the etiquette as giving someone a POKE back sounds terribly rude and aggressive to me!

Enjoy what’s left of May Randy – it’s my favourite month, and I got a kick out of seeing my first bluebell of this year whilst introducing 3 year old Oscar to the dangers of NETTLES in our nearby wood. He hasn’t quite got the hang of it yet – but it was me that got stung rescuing him!

    Keep on Rambling

  20. Brandon@Healthcare News, 12 May, 2011

I know Jury duty HAS TO BE boring. I was an expert witness, and I was yawning the whole time I was waiting.

  21. RandySmith@InternetMarketingRambles, 13 May, 2011

Fingers crossed for you that you can make the meet up John :)
Nettles – Lovely stuff – Rachel makes some great pasta with them … full of goodness!

@ Brandon… cheers for stopping by – I imagine waiting is Boring… but sitting through all the evidence certainly couldn’t be seen as boring… exhausting… but not boring!

P.S. Has anyone noticed the new banners at the bottom of each post?… News on a free plugin (Another free tool) from http://www.InternetMarketingApprentice.com coming soon ;)

  22. If That Was All I Was Infected With I’d Be Happy, 14 May, 2011

I am heartened to see that the challenges of being a pioneer still find you here.

And, I also like that you have a beer gut.

In a manly kind of way.

    How are you doing pal?

  23. RandySmith@InternetMarketingRambles, 14 May, 2011

    HI Barry,

    Cheers for stopping by :)
Personally – I’d rather lose the beer gut… But I want it to vanish of it’s own accord, and I don’t have the ‘time’ to excercise…. (That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it!!)

  24. Rob, 16 May, 2011

Hey dude, where did you go? I just received your 9 May randysramblings and looked back through my email to find that the previous email from you (“Gi’ft Links Enclosed Rob, – Did you get these?”) was 21 May 2009 – almost 2 years ago !!! In that email you said “I’ll introduce myself better next week Rob as
I’m sure right now you probably just want to download your freebies!” but that was it — radio silence for 2 years. I can send the 21 May 2009 email back to you if you’re interested to investigate why the gremlins took me off your list for 2 years

  25. Sally, 17 May, 2011

    Hey Randy

Why does “brief email” make me snigger? (I worry about myself sometimes lol)

I have thankfully never been chosen for Jury Duty, it is not something I would enjoy I don’t think, my sister has been chosen 4 times or something so she must be a pro at it now ha ha.

Really looking forward to the June meet up, got my camera at the ready…. say CHEESE!!!

(You can start losing the beer gut after the meet up, thats my plan too)

    Sally x

  26. RandySmith@InternetMarketingRambles, 17 May, 2011

@ Rob, Crikey – I’m surprised you even remember me after all that time…. I’ve no idea what happened. And I wouldn’t have the techy knowledge to be able to sort it either….lol
Good to have you with us again though :) … here’s hoping you start getting my emails regularly now :)

@ Sally – PMSL – guess where you’re comment went…lol – Luckily I spotted you easily due to the plugin you showed me stopping all those other spam comments coming through!

    Catch you soon

  27. steve, 22 May, 2011

It is a nice idea that there are people who are willing to help in times of needs. This are the people who will never put you down and will give you the courage to continue living your life.

  28. RandySmith@InternetMarketingRambles, 23 May, 2011

    Cheers Steve,
You’re another reader who was in the spam folder – but as you seem to be on topic, I’ve dug you out :)

Easily found thanks to opnly having 6 spam from the weekend now that the GASP plugin is doing it’s job ;)

  29. Team building games for children, 07 January, 2012

I think that a Jury Duty is not that easy or something that is enjoyable experience. But in your case I think you had made it quite okay. Its nice to read your story in this article and blog.
