Randy’s Ramblings Jan 28 2007
Well another week has gone buy – So I do hope you’ve made progress.
I’ve still been busy on the home front (selling our house – seems to take forever)
But I have got some bits and pieces done, and put up another great offer for you. (I’ll tell you in a bit)
First this weeks Ramblings ….lol
I hope you kept your ca$h in your wallet last week, It seems I was right to advise you to steer clear of Pipeline Profits!
I’ve read a good number of comments in forums now from UNhappy customers waiting for refunds!!!….. sure glad I didn’t waste mine
This week I want to Ramble on about “two” of the main reasons many people *fail* to make any money on the net.
**The 1st BIG Reason People Fail – is Procrastination**
I know I’m guilty of it still…… however I’m nothing like as bad as I used to be! ![]()
There does however seem to be many, many newbies who are always waiting for the right product, or the right opportunity to come along.
They’ll buy allsorts and study and study, then think about all the things they need in place to start to make something of all the info they’ve got……
…..NEVER to get started….. !!
If they’re like me – it always seems too daunting taking that first step!
I do hope you’re not one of them ?
But hey – even if you are – it’s OK!…… It happens to the best of us….lol
What’s required is a start….. That’s all – just DO SOMETHING – - – ANYTHING!
That’s what people need to know.
Because strangely enough – once people start — it’s like that old proverb…
**When the Student is ready —– The Master will appear!**
Really – they’d be amazed at how many people there are who are willing to help and guide them, From people who’s lists they may be on – to forums full of friendly folk eager to give others a lift.
I’ve even been surprised myself a few times – to find some big earning ‘guru types’ offer to help me out. (I say guru types – as they may not be as well known as some of the big names…..however they do earn some big incomes).
And there are Plenty like myself who are making nice, regular, extra incomes, that are very willing to help.
So guys, If you know anyone struggling to get started, ‘cos they keep putting things off,
Do give them a bit of your time and some encouragement…..you can’t force them…lol
But sometimes they just need to know that there’s someone they can turn to for the silliest little things!
And if you find yourself thinking — “Hey I’m at that stage” — then do shout up at a forum you go to, or email me or someone else who’s list you’re on…. and ask questions…
Then Take Action…… no matter how small it may seem — (here comes another saying…..lol)
As the saying goes:–
**The Only Way To Eat An Elephant —– IS —- One Bite At A Time**
Well Peeps, That’s reason number 1 why many people fail to make it.
I do hope that’s not applying to you, after all if you’ve been with me a while – I’ve passed
on links to plenty of free resources to get anyone going……. And if you’ve not been with me for too long – drop me an email or comment with whatever it is you’re stuck on …and I’ll do my best to help where I can.
~~~~ By The Way ….. Now might be a good time to Drop in an Offer….lol ~~~~
If you haven’t been to Marketing Beginners Yet….or just didn’t want to give out your email —- then here’s something you’ll love
An ebook full of the Video Links – A to Z of Website Creation, I got it with resell rights from The Hermit himself…. and I’ve put up the salespage he provides.
BUT – instead of the recommended price ($47) – I’m selling it for just $5
PLUS… you get the book AND the rights, As well as all the graphics and salespage too – so with the videos you could easily Build a site, and Resell the Product to start if you have been “Putting things Off”
And if you needed some other resources to get traffic or build a list – then check last weeks links, and/or my home page for other products to help you make an income ![]()
(I’ll include last weeks links at the end in case you missed them)
### On With My Ramblings### (hoping you’re not bored yet…lol)
**The 2nd BIG reason so many people fail is – Information Overload**
Trying to stay focused through the overwhelming task of too much information!
Sorting it all out so that you know what’s sounds right to you, what model you want to pursue, which so called ‘expert’ has the right plan to follow. When I read thru’ all the offers I get day in and day out, I know my brain gets confused, I sit here wondering to whom I should be listening?
If I was starting over from scratch not knowing anything today I think I’d probably switch off the pc and give up!!!! There’s simply TOO much information out there today…
TOO many choices…. TOO many people claiming to know *The Secret*
Every time I log in to my email account there’s another guru with another
*sure fire winner*
..another teleseminar to listen to….
..another eBook that’s a ‘Must Have’….
..another blog to check out… (whoops)
..another forum that must be joined…
..another squeeze page for a newsletter…
..or eCourse that promises to put you me on the road to riches.
Don’t get me wrong guys, there are more and better information resources available today than EVER before (but that’s a dilemma, because how is one to define which route to take?, and how to get started).
What might be right for one person – may not suit another!
And, let’s face it… we’re all different people with different goals, different wants and desires for our lives and families, different backgrounds, different experiences, different challenges, and different ideas of what success looks like for us, right?
Because of that not every solution will work for everyone……
It’s about finding the one that works for you and your life. It’s got to fit you instead of you trying to fit yourself to it, right?
*****
So in my honest opinion, The only way to make progress is to make a decisive choice.
Then (back to reason number 1…lol) Act on it!, – get started and stick with it til you’re
making some profits…..
*****
If you want to diversify later – that’s great …. but really – try to ignore the emails and fancy sales talk on the ‘Latest Guaranteed must have’ until you’ve made progress with want you’ve decided to do.
Try to limit your full attention to ‘Your Chosen Field’ ….. If you have to read about others
— then do so with a mind thinking “How would that apply in my area?”
And use their salestalk to improve your knowledge and activities in your chosen field.
And FINALLY — Don’t buy your next ebook or software – UNTIL…..
Until you’ve at least had a read through every “Unopened” file on your desktop……lol ![]()
Well that wraps things up for this week……
Thanx for reading, and I do hope you benefit from the time you’ve invested in me and my Ramblings
So here’s hoping you’re Loving Life, Living it with Passion, And Passing it on!
Til next time
Warm Regards to You and Yours,
From Me and Mine.
Randy:
Hi, Ray Ross here.
I’ve been sulfing this P.M., but I found myself reading your “Ramblings” in great detail and compelled to answer.
You were so right on and I want you to know that I am going to send your thoughts out to my list. You made it read like you were just addressing just me, but I’m sure you were addressing your whole list.
But I want to add that if these “newbies” are a little patient, there is a free education on the net. If they would wait at least 3 months before they buy their 1st ebook or “biz-in-a-box”, they would be well off.
Of course, that makes it hard for you and me because we’re trying to put out good products,. but not really because there are so many of them.
Well,enough of my rambling,
to you all the best Regards
Ray Ross
You know Randy, your newsletters probably aren’t as “jazzy” as some of the others (millions??) I see in my in box.
But you seem to talk more sense than half a dozen of the others put together.
Unfortunately, I’m in that “sorting the wheat from the chaff” category,
can’t see the woods for the trees and when you wrote this . . .
*There does however seem to be many, many newbies who are always
waiting for the right product, or the right opportunity to come along.
They’ll buy allsorts and study and study, then think about all the
things they need in place to start to make something of all the info they’ve
got……*
. . . I think you were spying on me!!!! ;-o)
I’ll get there. At the risk of sounding like I’m procrastinating, I have a
number of things I MUST do before I can commit to anything. When I take that first step though, I promise you’ll be the first to know!!
Take care.
Cheers
Very True, Randy.
I’ve been suffering both those diseases for 5 years.
Can’t find a cure, though.
I’ve never read ANY ebook or watched any video I’ve downloaded.
I now have 150 gigs of them! LOL
No time to read or watch, another email came in with more free stuff to download.
Guilty as charged on most of it. I’m not waiting on the next big thing to buy. On Social Security there is not a lot of buying. I don’t have 150 gigs yet but at least half way there. Maybe a little less if you delete the double and triple dowhloads.
If a lot of the marketers would read your ramblings and follow your style I think it would help them. There is 673 emails on this address i am cheking and a lot of them won’t get opened. I get so many and I am behind but Randy Smith’s will be opened and read. There is another one I will read next.
Thanks for some more good advice and I will quit rambling and get to work. My wife is up getting ready to go to work while I play with my computer.
James
Hi James,
I hope things turn around for you soon
But yeah – spending money on countless promotions usually just causes info overload.
If people focus on one thing until it pays off – they would be better off.
Unfortunately some things require a few dollars spent…. but if cash is tight, there is usually another way – it just means the time investment would be greater!
Randy
Hi there.
have just finished reading your newsletter and could not agree more with you conclusions on the problems facing new internet marketers.
At 60+ years of age one would think that I wouldn’t get caught in the mire. I realised that I was sinking in c–p downloads only after
my wife suggested that I had an affliction she called ADS, no thats not a misprint, its not AIDS but ADS. I asked her what she meant and she replied:
“Every time a download button appears on the screen your index finger and eyes disconnect from your remaining brain cells and go into an automatic clicking mode until exhaustion takes over. Then you repeat this the next day and the next, etc.”. That is why she named it ADS.
How did I overcome this affliction?
After considerable introspection I concluded she was correct in her diagnosis and I set about reprogramming some additional and thus far dormant brain cells to react to download buttons by
by rapidly hitting the little red cross at the top right of the screen. The resultant withdrawal symptoms over I now have unsubscribed from 15,233 newsletters (it seems like that many) and deleted a forest of boxes from the hard drive. Well, if they were real it would have required a forest to make them.OTO’s and other multiple offers are now a thing of the past, I can read the remaining newsletters while having the first coffee of the day, and I am now working on my own product.
My advice to other newbies also caught with ADS, put on the blinkers, PLAN, FOCUS, on the real task- YOUR OWN PRODUCTS or if selling PLR’s etc is your aim, focus on the first product and sale.
Its only after banking your first $10 sale that you can aim for the second and then more.
Anyway, I have wasted enough of your time with this. Keep up the entertaining newsletters and blog. The light hearted entertainment and no hard sell or swamping the inbox is appreciated.
Graeme.
Wow Graeme,
What a comment….lol
It sounds like your wife is right…. Attention Deficiency Syndrome.
It happens a lot to Internet Marketers…. We get so much info thrown at us each day, it’s hard to stay focused on anything …lol
You hit the nail on the head with the Plan and Focus part….
Even if it’s not your own products – there are a lot of ways to make money online – but without some planning and focus – and obviously Action… nothing much happens!
Fingers crossed you get there Graeme
I didn’t explain. ADS stands for automatic download syndrome!!!
Hey Randy, I am terrible for information overload, one minute I am doing something and the next I am off in a completely different direction!
Nice Post, Sally
Hi Randy
Dizzy Dee here!!
While you were on holiday, I get my inbox down from 27MB to 15MB and opened and deleted some downloads that don’t work.
I agree that newbies like me download and buy to much. The reason is that if you are like me, I have not got a clue where to start and need as much info as I can get!!
There is too much hype out there and newbies can’t tell the good from the bad.
I think a lot of people have the same problem. OK I can do this…. but how do I get people onto my list and if I don’t then I have wasted my time and money.
I want to go into info products – the most sought after being how to maek money. The problem is that there are so many already out there even though a lot are rubbish.
I never go into anything without knowing as much as I can about it.
M\aybe that is procrastination, but I know I will get there one day.Like ‘Randys Ramblings’, ‘Dee does go on!!’.
That will be my trademark – See I am making progress, even if it is only ideas.
Dee
Hi Dee,
A good start would be to search through the downloads with PLR at http://www.MoreMonthly.com and find something you believe to be good.
Then get another one that is a great compliment to the first.
After that – get them personalised so that there is some of you in them…. and get them online!
One as a freebie to build your list and the other as an upsell to the freebie.
Then get your blog up and start going on…lol
With a subscription box on site to offer the freebie…
Then start blog hopping and forum posting to get some traffic to your site
OK – That was brief and quick – so I hope you got the jist of it
Randy
Hi Randy,
Wow, reading an ancient thread, but every bit of it as relevant today as when you first posted,
I am starting to follow your advice, and sorting some freebies out for my blog, and checking some of those things gathering dust on my desktop, I have realised that not being able to afford the “next big thing”, isn/t such a bad thing after all. I must admit to getting sick of these amazing offers which appear for a fortnight, then disappear never to be seen again.
Onwards and upwards,
Barry
Yep – they’re still very relevant today, and people keep going round and round the same cycle…lol
Just do it sounds like it may be contrite advice, but it is an absolute must. It worked for Nike and it works for blogging too. Many good things I’ve done have come from just beginning.
Good advice once again Randy. In order to accomplish ANYTHING in life you must start at the very beginning. You can’t lose if you don’t start, but you won’t win either!
I agree with you 100% that people tend to fail was due to Procrastination. I’m in the same boat, when I just started out, I tend to stay clear from SEO because I didn’t know anything about it and it seems (like you said) very daunting. So I just wrote and wrote about various articles hoping that google might pick up some of my contents.
After months of writing without any success (no traffic to my site), I start reading ebooks on SEO, PR, dublicate contents to name a few. It got easier and traffic start coming in. I almost failed because of procrastination.
