It’s a beautiful day here in Northern England,
Enough to put a smile on anyones face :)

I’m not sure Pete is smiling though – he’s been
up to his eyeballs testing and adjusting WizardResponder.

Other than trying to ensure everything is all working
correctly, I’ve not done a lot myself on anything either!

So Fingers crossed ;)

And I sincerely hope your week is going a lot better
than Pete’s

In my post today – You’ll find a bit of a Rant, but I hope
you see the lesson it contains, as I feel it is a very important
one
for anyone marketing online.

* Thank you (multiple times – but just once I hope)

First Up – I wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone
who has been emailing me and letting me know about
the multiple message issue with Wizard.

Yes – I did know already as I subscribe to all my
lists to ensure I know when my emails have been delivered.

However...
The fact that so many people took time out of their day to
email me and let me know really impressed me.

It proves that I have some really great people who actually
care on my lists, and that makes helping people all the
more satisfying to me!

It also puts their names into my mind, and I’m one of those
people who doesn’t forget – so when the day comes that they
need help with a promotion or simply just some advice -
You can bet I’ll remember who they are.

And that, as simple as it was for them to type an email, is all
that’s really needed to start building strong relationships with
people. And relationships with other marketers can make a massive
difference to each of our success stories!

So there is a lesson there in building relationships, something
I’ve often commented on.

Meanwhile – I was hoping my lists only get this thank you via email
once :)
And not 12 or 16 times as before.
[EDIT - 3 times I think.... we're getting better!]

And for those who haven’t yet looked – do check out the service
that has caused Pete and I so many headaches this last week….
because you can be sure we’re not the only Autoresponder service that
has ever had a glitch, and I know we wont be the last… But we will keep
tweaking and testing til it’s as perfect as it was, leaving us with a
solid, Reliable, Affordable and much added to service :)

* A Great Example of how NOT to Build Relationships!
(My Rant)

I do have to admit that not all my subscribers were
quite as understanding about the multiple emails.

In fact – I did lose some who thought it too much trouble
to mass delete my emails, and therefore chose to unsub.

That in itself presented another glitch in the ‘clicky’ to
remove themselves seemed to be only working randomly.
(Don’t ask me why…lol – Pete is working on it!)

But again – I even had a polite email from one asking if
I would remove her, which naturally I did manually.
Simple really – hit reply and type please remove me from
your lists Randy.

Like this one:


Hi Randy,

I would like to unsubscribe but your ‘clicky’
Goes to a 404 page each time I try.
Please take care of this for me when you can.

Sorry for your ‘glitch’.  Hope you get it worked
Out soon.

Well that seemed nice enough to me, and I can tell you
that if that lady ever rejoins my lists and asks for
help – she will also be remembered as someone I have no
problem helping.
Here’s what I actually replied:

Hi XXXXXX,

I have deleted you from all the lists you were on.
Sorry to see you go – but thank you for politely asking.

(I say that due to the rude and capitalised email
I got from one subscriber who thinks it’s unforgivable
of me to have a glitch!)

We are working on the 404 error and the scheduler glitch,
so I too hope it’s all sorted soon.

Anyway – Good luck in whatever you’re currently working
on, and do feel free to pop by my blog and resub anytime
you think I may be able to help :)

HOWEVER:
I have had two people whom I’ve manually deleted who will
be remembered in other ways.
i.e. – I wouldn’t want to waste any of my time even reading
their emails or proposals, evben if they offered me 200% commission!

Because I think they didn’t give any thought to how they aksed
to be removed, OR to the fact that I am also a member of the human
race, and therefore have feelings too!

To accuse someone of sp@m – when they opted in of their own free will
and obviously don’t know how the term is defined….

Or to SHOUT AND USE CAPITALS whilst being abusive…
Well I’m sure it wouldn’t sit well with you either would it ?

I don’t want 100′s of SPAM contacts!

That was a short one… thanks for saying Hi…lol

My Reply:
Hi YYYYY,

100′s of spam contacts?

If you mean you don’t want 12 or more emails from me,
I do understand…. not that it’s spam – and you are
free to unsubscribe at any time.

Re the number of emails:

It’s one of those embarrassing moments – During
the upgrade to WizardResponder we found a fault
and it’s being looked into… meanwhile I have heaps
of emails from people asking why I keep sending the
same email…lol

Fingers crossed it gets fixed soon :)

I have just received another 5 e-mails.  This is not on.

You suggested that I unsubscribe if I don’t want them.

I have decided to do this.
I am getting just too much junk from you.

So that was that – He did try to unsub, but the
links were also inactive – so I have removed him
manually…

And the Second One who has been
removed manually was this:

that is a terrible way to treat your list,

I get 20 emails aday to wade thru & delete.

ZZZZZ,

Had you bothered to read the message – then you would
have known why you received it so many times!

You would also have seen my profound apologies.

You may also have considered how many freebies I give to
people on my list and the value I genuinely try to
provide – especially compared to some of the so called gurus!

Yes – it was unprofessional… But software does go
wrong and people make mistakes, In fact in any endeavour
where human beings are involved there are always errors.
Some apologise for their errors, others don’t care.

I chose to apologise, however I don’t expect everyone to
accept the apology.
That said – I also don’t feel that anyone who has accepted
all my freebies for any length of time has justification for
saying I’m harassing them when I’ve clearly tried to
explain the glitch!

I do however welcome any unsubscribe from people who don’t
have the patience to bear with me through a nightmare
scenario for me or to accept an apology when I admit I was
at fault and let down my some software.

So thanks for the capital letters and for unsubscribing
from my list, and thanks for providing a great example of
how not to build strong relationships with people who may
one day have been able to JV or promote you and your sites.

It’ll make a good blog post for me <- which may be a final
example of how to take something negative and look for ways
of turning into something positive.


I genuinely am sorry that your attitude would seem to be
one of finding fault rather than living with passion and
enjoying everything life has to offer, but I guess I can’t
convince everyone how great life really is.

Broken link again… ooops – but fear not he was manually
removed before I received the email, so I’ve not replied again.

So let me ask you again – who do you think is most likely to
succeed and get help at anytime in the future from me?

Those who choose to shout and get nasty – or those who
understand that we’re not all perfect, and do make mistakes?

Those who gripe at having 20 seconds wasted of their day, in
having to mass delete a bunch of emails… or those who take
extra time out of their day to help and notify someone of a fault?

It all boils down to A) Building Strong Relationships with people.
And B) Your Attitude Towards Others and Life in General!

If those two things are right – other things will fall into place!
Trust me on that, and do bear in mind (as some don’t actually realise)
I do have a good mnumber of friends online, who can help people and
who come to me when they need help or advice.

Just like I once did offline, I have, (and do) advised people with
lists and businesses that are many times bigger than mine!

    It reminds me of something an Internet Marketer said at a Seminar I attended once: “In this game, you should expect the odd drive-by shooting”.

    It’s funny because i was getting all those repeat emails.
    Why would someone get upset because of a glitch.

    Some people think they might break a nail or something.
    Wow,it’s like someone telling another person a small story 12 times.

    How much work is it to push the delete button or at least read 1 or 6 of
    those emails like i did.

    I kind of laughed because i said your record was skipping.
    Can you remember the record era?

    I’m at that age when i had a big collection of those big black over sized CD’s.
    Most of them had a lot of scratches and they would skip until you would
    move the needle,not delete or throw that record out.

    Just letting you know i’m still here :) :):)
    Positive thinking and will not give up until the mission is done.
    Some day i will rise to the top and then i can help more people out.

    I’m on the computer over 6 hours a day,7 days a week and i will never
    give up until i make it.
    That’s not including my real job!! (but i’m the boss:):)

    Just wanted to say you’re definitely better off without the person who
    sent the abusive emails. That is definitely an example of a person who
    should never be in internet marketing and who will never ever succeed no
    matter how long they try, unless they change their attitude, but they
    will no doubt be like that in their everyday life as well. Just hope I
    don’t have to ever meet them….

    Thanks once again for your great products and great advice. I’m sure the
    majority of subscribers will appreciate it like me.

    Hal B. here. Nice post…. Where I was one of those who didn’t
    respond about all of the emails you should know that it wasn’t because
    I hadn’t noticed them. It was simply that I recognized that your
    autoresponder (not you or your staff) was having a minor “melt down”.
    Things happen and not everything turns out the way we hoped it
    would.

    It’s a shame that some respond the way they do but then again you’re
    dealing with the human race (emotional bunch aren’t we??…LOL)

    I assume the issues with the Wizard have been resolved …good luck
    and don’t let the “uglies” among us ruin your day.

    I cannot understand why some people get so annoyed just because a few extra emails arrive in their box. I know that sometimes it can be a bit long winded to have this happen, but all email clients have the delete button in them. Once you see that an email is duplicated, its only a few clicks to get rid of them and it is not like you have to re-read them all again.

    I am truly proud to be on several of your mailing lists as you always offer super content, not to mention many valuable freebies along the way.

    Your Wizard Responder is something very special and offers some options that are not available else where in other responders. When a service like this is being updated it is obvious that there will be the odd glitch whilst reaching perfection and this really shows me how you and Pete strive to bring us the best service available by none.

    Keep up the good work, all will be well.

    Hey Randy – As I know that you to are a long term subscriber to the eternal optomist club :-) I thought that I would pass on One of my favourite quotes in the face of adversity:

    “Yesterday’s history, tomorrow’s a mystery but today is the present and that’s why they call it a gift”

    It’s a bit like what I use to say to people when I worked at Newcastle Airport “You don’t want to be affraid of flying it’s crashing that does the damage” quite abrupt I know but I believe that it made the point.

    Live and entertain the negative aspects of life and all your problems will be granted.

    I got the numerous emails, but I could easily tell you weren’t spamming me because the titles were all the same. I didn’t bother contacting you because I figured a million other people would and that you and Pete were going to fix the problem ASAP. :)

    I’m glad to hear that most people were patient and nice. It’s a testiment to the strong relationship you have with your list!

    I have looked at the nasty emails you have received and if I could pass on a message to those responsible (but who have now, quite rightly been removed from your list) that you are a caring responsible person and one who took the trouble to call with me at my home to discuss how I should proceed with my internet dreams! As the Americans might say – they suck – push them to one side and get on with what matters!
