Here we go with another ramble.
Once upon just the other day, I was completely
shattered.
Both Physically and Mentally drained after
a weekend of nothing going right, in fact, more
things going wrong completely than anywhere even
close to right!
I was at a low point.
And to sum it up in one word – TIRED!
But hey – I’m not one to dwell on personal hardships
for too long, (I’m still a human being, so I can’t
just ignore them, but didn’t want to wallow in self
pity for days.)
I took action immediately and shared how I was
feeling in words to my subscriber lists, and
right away I felt a little lifted, plus knowing
there was nothing I could do to affect the situation,
other than keep on keeping on, I did just that.
Got stuck into more packing boxes ready for a
house move that has been delayed beyond ridiculous!
By coincidence, It was my ‘office library’ that I was
boxing up.
So that lead to me skimming through a heap of books
and being reminded of some classics and personal
favourites, as I sorted them into ‘Keep or Giveaway’
boxes.
As I popped a Dale Carnegie book into the keep box,
I thought about my email and how Very TIRED I was.
And that lead me to remembering a line that the late
Michael Clarke Duncan said in the Move ‘The Green Mile’
John Coffey:
“I’m tired, Boss. Tired of being on the road,
lonely as sparrow in the rain. I’m tired of never
having a buddy to be with, to tell me where we’s
going to, coming from or why.
Mostly, I’m tired of people being ugly to each
other.”
There’s actually a LOT of motivation/inspiration
in those few lines for me.
So if you have the time, I’ll share them in this ramble
🙂

* The Lonely as a sparrow part.
Well that immediately made me think of a short story
I have printed and pinned on my office walls alongside
some cool quotes and sayings.
It goes like this:
IF YOU ARE UNHAPPY
Once upon a time, there was a non-conforming sparrow
that decided not to fly south for the winter.
However, soon the weather turned so cold that he
reluctantly started to fly south.
In a short time, ice began to form on his wings and
he fell to earth in a farmyard, almost frozen.
A cow passed by and crapped on the little sparrow.
The sparrow thought it was the end, but the manure
warmed him and defrosted his wings.
Warm and happy, able to breathe, he started to sing.
Just then a large cat came by, and hearing the chirping,
investigated the sounds.
The cat cleared away the manure, found the chirping
bird, and promptly ate him!
The moral of the story:
1. Everyone who shits on you…
is not necessarily your enemy.
2. Everyone who gets you out of the shit…
is not necessarily your friend.
3. And, if you’re warm and happy in a pile of shit…
keep your mouth shut!
* The next couple of lines
“I’m tired of never having a buddy to be with,
to tell me where we’s going to, coming from or why.”
Made me think of my online friends, students, and
accountability!
Even just sharing a few moans, can help us get past
them.
Having a friend to discuss challenges with can make
a BIG difference on how we deal with our crap, An
accountability partner or coach can help with direction,
where we’re going, coming from, and why!
And what to do about any challenges we’re facing,
to get us back on track!
* And finally – that last line:
“Mostly, I’m tired of people being ugly to each other.”
Taken in the context of the Movie, or even some of
those argumentative posts on facebook where people
seem to focus on some trivial crap and get all heated
up over it – while ignoring the many REAL wrongs in
our world...
Well that reminded me that my challenges are purely
time/finances/frustrations etc.
In other words TRIVIAL by comparison to some of
the UGLY in this world.
So yeah – I needed to be reminded to:
1. Count my blessings,
2. Get over myself,
3. And be grateful!
WOW – all that from one line in a movie!
(It IS such a great movie though, and I doubt anyone
would disagree!)
Hence, sharing this ramble and hoping IF you’re TIRED
– This will help you too!
Do let me know if there’s a movie line that inspires
or motivates you 🙂
And of course – Have a great day.

Brilliant, uplifting post, Randy!
One of my favourites is from Apollo 13; “Houston, we have a problem.”
It reminds me that no matter how big your problems are, there’s always a way to get around them. And besides, it was a great movie!
I think the best lines come from songs, though … but I’d be typing all day if I started on that one.
Stay good – and thanks for the post!
Yes, bit depressed today, following the GE, which is not like me. So I like your
1. Count my blessings,
2. Get over myself,
3. And be grateful!
I am a listener for someone who is not very well AND giving up smoking, so I am not moaning to him, LOL. I will be like the sparrow but just stay quiet, warm in my heap of shit!
Have a great day.
